About Tyburn Academy
Our Mission |
| Tyburn Academy of Mary Immaculate provides a high quality college preparatory education in the Catholic tradition at the middle school and high school levels. Students will be instructed in the classical liberal arts and sciences. The board and faculty share a unity of purpose with parents to foster the intellectual and moral development of students. Christian values are the foundation basic to all our endeavors and form the principles to which Tyburn Academy adheres. |
The Name Tyburn |
Tyburn Academy is named to honor over 300 English and Irish martyrs, 40 of whom are now canonized, who gave their lives at Tyburn crossroads, just outside Hyde Park, London from the years 1535 to 1681.
The Tyburn logo depicts the scaffold at Hyde Park on which these martyrs were hanged, drawn, and quartered for their faith. Today the spot is marked by a circular stone in Bayswater Road running past Hyde Park inscribed with the cross and the words: "The Site of Tyburn Tree."
